Tadeusz Wroński Foundation for VIOLIN and Chopin University of Music in Warsaw announce the 7th International Chopin Competition. Tadeusz Wroński on Solo Violin. The competition will take place on September 22-28, 2025 in Warsaw.
The idea of this type of competitions was introduced in 1990 by prof. Tadeusz Wroński, outstanding Polish virtuoso and violin teacher, Rector and Doctor Honoris Causa of the F. Chopin Academy of Music. in Warsaw. He was long-time professor at Indiana Jacobs University School of Music in Bloomington, USA. International Competitions named after Tadeusz Wroński for Solo Violin are cyclical events. The eventes take place every five years and so far they are the only solo competitions in this formula in the world. The competition program is very difficult for every violinist. Performance of Tempo di Ciaccona from the Sonata by B. Bartók and the solo Sonata by J.S. Bach or E. Ysaÿe, as well as the difficult caprices of N. Paganini, K. Lipiński, H. Wieniawski is quite a challenge even for a talented instrumentalist. That is why the Competition named after Tadeusz Wroński is unofficially considered by violinists to be one of the most difficult violin tournaments in the world. It is also an educational competition, because those who play solo pieces on stage learn how to perform the most difficult musical literature, which is not always required in other competitions. The competition auditions will take place in the concert hall of the Frederic Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. The 7th Competitionis a three-stage event, open to violinists of all nations and born after September 22, 1990. The pool of statutory prizes is approximately PLN 275 000 PLN. ca. 65 000 Euro. The final distribution of prizes and extra-regulatory prizes in the form of cash, in kind, as well as possible concert engagements will be made by an international jury composed of outstanding virtuosos and violin teachers.
